Two Punxsutawney residents face charges following a confrontation with police over an emergency child custody order.
ExploreJeffersonpa.com reports, nineteen-year-old Olivia Rain Sands is charged with felony interference with custody of children, along with resisting arrest, simple assault and other offenses. Twenty-two-year-old Zachary Wazelle is charged with obstructing law enforcement. Police say the incident happened Friday night after an emergency custody order was verified and an officer accompanied the woman who had the order to a Foundry Street residence. Investigators allege Sands tore up the order, fought with the woman and resisted officers, while Wazelle repeatedly interfered with police.
One child was returned to the custodian at the scene, while a second child was reportedly in Maine. Sands’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 8.
