Gary B. Fye, 88, of Brookville, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, while at Penn Highlands Dubois.
Born February 3, 1938, in Oberlin, Ohio, he was the son of the late J. Ausman and Margaret Barnes Fye.
He was a graduate of Meadville Area High School.
On May 3, 1958, in Meadville he married the former Donna M. Shouey. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2021.
He retired from Riverside Market in 2000 where he worked as ameat cutter. In prior years he and his wife owned and operated the Sears Store in Brookville for many years.
He was a member of Therapy Dogs International and Canine Obedience Club.
Gary and his wife, Donna, together with their therapy dogs, devoted many years to bringing comfort, support and companionship to members of the community, including residents of nursing homes, hospital patients, and local schoolstudents.
His survivors include his sons, Gary (Angie) Fye and Jeffery (Marie) Fye: his daughters, Lynette (Ron) Smith and Loretta (Steve) Morres; his grandchildren, Ashley, Tony, Allison, Eli, Justina, Alyssa, Gary, Anton and Jocelyn; his beloved 10 great grandchildren; and his sister, Bonnie Pellizze.
His parents and wife preceded him in death.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville had the honor of being entrusted with the final arrangements for Mr. Fye.
His family will receive friends on Monday, August 3, 2026,from 11AM-1PM at Brookville First Methodist Church with funeral services to follow at 1PM with Pastor Joe Short, officiating.
At a later date; a private family interment ceremony will be at the Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson County.
His family suggests memorial contributions be made in his memory to Stray Cat Central, a local organization that finds homes for displaced cats and dogs. Their address is 100 Franklin Ave., Brookville, PA. 15825.
