Former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to federal program fraud and money laundering as part of a plea agreement.
According to WTAJ News, the deal calls for a recommended 27-month prison sentence, no fine, and $500,000 in restitution, though the court will not formally accept the plea until after reviewing a pre-sentence report. Suplizio, who had been scheduled for trial in October, is now set to be sentenced Nov. 23. Former city employee Roberta Shaffer previously pleaded guilty in the case and is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 22.
The pair had been accused of stealing $1.5 million from the City of DuBois while Suplizio served as city manager.
