A kitchen fire heavily damaged an apartment at the Edgewood Apartments in Lawrence Township on Tuesday afternoon, displacing its lone resident.
WJAC News reports the blaze broke out shortly after 3 p.m. on Valley View Drive, according to Hyde Fire Department Chief Randy Powell. One woman inside the apartment was taken to a hospital as a precaution but was not injured, and her pet rabbit was safely rescued. Firefighters contained the fire in about 30 minutes.
The apartment sustained extensive damage and is considered a near-total loss.
