The Clearfield Area School Board approved a $54.9 million budget for the 2026-27 school year that includes a 1.5-mill real estate tax increase and six staff reductions.
Superintendent Terry Struble said the district will not fill two vacant teaching positions, two vacant custodial positions and two vacant teacher aide positions at the high school, a move expected to save about $550,000 annually. Struble said the two teaching vacancies alone would save an estimated $400,000 per year.
The board previously chose to retain a vacant kindergarten position and add a second-grade teacher despite earlier recommendations to eliminate the position.
