A Clearfield County woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Rural King and firearm manufacturer KelTec following the 2024 fatal shooting of her son, Kodey Parks.
WTAJ news reports, the suit alleges Rural King negligently allowed Bryan Michaelis, who was prohibited from possessing firearms, to leave the store with a handgun purchased by another person before Michaelis allegedly used it to kill Parks the next day.
Rural King denied the allegations, while KelTec is seeking dismissal of the claims, arguing its actions were not the legal cause of the shooting.
