Brookville Borough Council has approved a 180-day moratorium on new data center development and the use of borough water resources by such facilities while officials study their potential impact.
ExploreJeffersonPa.Com is reporting that Council members cited concerns over reports that two proposed projects in nearby Pine Creek and Rose townships could each require about 1.2 million gallons of water per day if connected to the borough’s system.
Officials emphasized that no formal applications have been submitted and said the temporary pause will allow time to review the issue, monitor possible state action, and ensure the borough’s water supply remains protected for residents and existing customers.
