The Knox Borough Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam in which callers spoof the department’s phone number to trick victims into sharing personal and financial information.
According to ExploreClarion.com, Police said scammers falsely claim fraudulent credit card activity has been detected and urge victims to act quickly.
Officials reminded the public that law enforcement will never request banking information, gift cards or money transfers over the phone and advised anyone receiving such calls to hang up immediately and report the incident.
