Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said Pennsylvania’s midterm primary election proceeded smoothly Tuesday with only minor issues reported across the state’s 67 counties.
More than 854,000 registered voters requested mail ballots, with counties reporting roughly 77 percent returned by 8 p.m., while officials said turnout appeared typical for a primary election. A small number of precincts experienced brief delays, including one polling place in Chester County that extended voting by 30 minutes following a medical emergency.
Unofficial results remain available through the state election returns website as counties continue counting remaining ballots before certification in the coming weeks.
