An Elk County man was sentenced to one year of probation after admitting he provided false information on a federal background check form while trying to claim a rifle he won in a local raffle, according to court records.
Authorities said 62-year-old Donald Scott Davison of Johnsonburg incorrectly answered questions about his criminal history during the firearm transfer process at a Jefferson County gun store in July 2025. Davison pleaded guilty earlier this month to a misdemeanor charge, while a felony count was withdrawn as part of a plea agreement.
Davison was also ordered to pay court costs and fees.
