The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced the addition of Bilgers Rocks in Clearfield County to Moshannon State Forest, expanding Pennsylvania’s state forest system by 173 acres.
The site features a 20-acre sandstone “rock city” estimated to be more than 300 million years old and historically used as shelter by Native Americans along the Great Shamokin Path.
State officials say the property, donated by the Bilgers Rocks Association, will be preserved for recreation, conservation, and educational use with planned improvements to signage, facilities, and interpretive programs.
