A 33-year-old Butler, Pennsylvania, man, Shawn Monper, pleaded guilty in federal court to making violent online threats against the President of the United States and federal law enforcement officials, prosecutors said Monday.
According to U.S. Department of Justice officials, Monper admitted to posting threats in 2025 while stockpiling firearms, ammunition and body armor, and expressing intent to carry out a mass shooting. The case, investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local police, began after authorities received an emergency tip about the online posts.
Monper has been in custody since his April 2025 arrest and faces up to 10 years in prison per count at sentencing scheduled for August.
