State police say a Lancaster man was cited after fleeing the scene of a crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon, October 5, along Route 36 in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.
According to Marienville-based State Police, 69-year-old Gary L. Gehret was driving a 2015 Jeep Renegade south when he crossed the centerline, forcing a northbound Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 58-year-old Robert E. Schneider Jr., of Fredonia, to swerve off the roadway and strike a utility pole. Gehret allegedly continued driving, but witnesses followed his vehicle and reported his registration. Troopers later located Gehret and his vehicle.
No injuries were reported. The Sigel Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
