One person was killed in a crash Wednesday morning in Armstrong Township… State police say two cars collided head-on along Route 422 around 11 AM, approximately one-tenth of a mile west of the North and South Ridge Road intersection.
A 2012 Volkswagen Jetta attempted to turn onto Route 422 from a driveway along the southbound lane when it was hit by a 2004 Honda Civic that was driving east. It drove across the center turn lane and into the westbound lane of 422 before striking a guide rail. The driver of the Jetta, identified only as an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
The other driver, a 26-year-old woman from Shelocta, was flown to Allegheny General Hospital. An infant that was in the car at the time was secured in a rear-facing child safety seat and flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
