A Sigel man, Ronald R. Hughes, is accused of threatening a couple with a pepper spray gun that resembled a real pistol in Eldred Township.
Hughes allegedly pointed the gun at the couple and pretended to shoot. Police later found the pepper spray gun and additional magazines in his truck.
Hughes claimed he acted in self-defense. He was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, and harassment, and was released on $20,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for May 31.
