Lawmakers in Harrisburg are looking to take Pennsylvania’s child abuse reporting system online.
The House’s Children and Youth Committee approved a plan to create a statewide child abuse information system by the end of 2026. The new system would both update and replace the 67 different county information systems, and be run by the state Department of Human Services.
State Representative Craig Staats says the new state-based system would help track trends and past histories when counties get referrals in a case involving a child.
