A bill has been approved by both the PA House and Senate that would stiffen the penalty for killing a bald eagle.
Senate Bill 709 will increase the fine for killing a bald eagle from $200 to $2000 and will be added on top of any federal fines or punishment that would be levied. Both State Representatives Jim Struzzi and Brian Smith approved the bill in the House vote, while Senator Joe Pittman approved it in the Senate.
It now goes to the Governor’s desk for his signature.
