An eastern PA man is being sentenced after he was convicted of committing torture overseas.
Federal prosecutors say 55-year-old Ross Roggio choked an Estonian man who was working with him at an illegal firearms manufacturing facility in the Kurdish region of Iraq in 2015. U.S. attorneys say Roggio also ordered Kurdish soldiers to continue the torture with repeated beatings and other abuse over a period of 39 days.
Roggio was previously convicted on charges related to the torture and the weapons scheme and has been sentenced to 70 years in prison.
