The Brookville council paused its regular meeting for a public hearing on a new ordinance about fire tax credits.
The Courier Express say, the ordinance aims to boost volunteer service in fire and emergency medical agencies. It offers tax credits based on criteria like emergency response, training, and years of service. Active volunteers could get up to $500 off their income tax and a full real property tax credit.
The community had no comments, and the council approved the ordinance. Council members praised the fire department for their invaluable service to the community.
