The Jefferson County Commissioners proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Punxsutawney Spirit reports, Crossroads Director Suella Himes expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of continuing conversations about domestic violence beyond the designated month. The Spirit adds, Himes shared alarming statistics about the prevalence of abuse, noting that 20 individuals are physically abused by intimate partners every minute. She highlighted the negative impact on children who witness such violence, stressing the need to break the cycle.
