A Punxsutawney woman has been charged with fraud for receiving cash benefits while not reporting her income from Social Security.
According to ExploreJeffersonPA.Com, 46-year old, Irene Smith received $918.00 in cash benefits during a specific period, adding, if she had informed the Department of Human Services (DHS) about her Social Security income for her child, she would not have been eligible for these benefits.
Smith is facing a misdemeanor charge of Fraud Obtaining Food stamps\/Assistance. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 11 with Judge Mizerock presiding.
