Residents of Sandy Township in DuBois are signing petitions to halt the consolidation process with the City of DuBois until the criminal cases against former city Manager John “Herm” Suplizio are completed.
According to the Courier Express, the Sandy Township Petition Group (STPG) is organizing the effort to support the township’s complaint filed in court to seek a stay in the consolidation process. Both anti-consolidation and pro-consolidation residents are in favor of pausing the process until the forensic audit and criminal investigation are resolved. The published report adds, the township still intends to move forward with consolidation but wants to ensure the uncertainties surrounding the city’s finances are resolved first.
