A Punxsutawney Man has waived his preliminary hearing on theft and related charges concerning car break-ins in Oliver Township back in August.
Punnxsutawney State Police alleged that 19-year-old Cody James Verostic of Punxsutawney, and two known juveniles, stole cash, cigarettes, and other items from cars in a series of thefts from motor vehicles parked along Coolspring Road and Belshazzar Road. Investigators say Verostic and the boys called the series of thefts “car shopping.” The complaint shows the thefts amounted to approximately $180.00 in stolen items and that Verostic allegedly confessed.
Court documents show Verostic was charged with six counts, including theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy, and that the charges were waived for court last Thursday. Verostic remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
