Tree removal, including the root system, is part of the Mahoning Creek Levee project in Punxsutawney.
Among the several trees, one of them is against the bathhouse at the pool with a major root system; however, inside the building, there are no cracks on the floor. The Army Corps of Engineers want all of the roots removed; however, Punxsutawney Borough Manager Toby Santik said they plan to leave that tree stump for a reason.
