The Brookville Borough Police received a report of another phone scam in Jefferson County.
In this scam, a female caller claims to be with the Federal Government Grant Department and tells the potential victim their number has been randomly selected to receive a grant to pay off student loans; however, she asks for a $300 gift card to cover expenses and processing fees. This is a scam.
Authorities remind residents to never send money, gift or credit card information to a cold caller.

A man from Texas was charged for Disorderly Conduct and Harassment in Brookville following a depute over a purchase at a Mexican restaurant.
Jefferson County 9-1-1 dispatched the Brookville Borough Police yesterday evening around 6:30 to a restaurant on the Allegheny Boulevard. An employee reported 56 year old David Wayne Kerr was angry and threw his change at her when he paid for his food. The victim also claimed he ran into and hit her by using his shoulder.
Kerr claims he did nothing wrong.
Charges were filed through the District Court.
