The unemployment rate increased last month in area counties.
According to the PA Department of Labor and Industry, Jefferson County has a 4.5 percent unemployment rate, Indiana County’s unemployment rate went up two-tenths of a percentage point to 4.8 percent. Clearfield County checked in at 5.2 percent, while Forest County had the highest in the area at 6.1 percent.
The number of total non-farm jobs in the area increased by 1,800 jobs to 32,600. Due to the end of summer break at local schools, government jobs had the biggest increase at 1,400. Over the year, the number of jobs was unchanged.
