The Pennsylvania State Police are reminding state residents about the safe disposal of unwanted or no longer needed prescription drugs.
As part of the state’s effort to combat the opioid epidemic, the Pennsylvania State Police have drug take-back boxes located in the lobbies of 65 of their stations across the commonwealth. Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson Ryan Tarkowski says disposal of unwanted or no longer needed prescriptions in these boxes can get them out of a home and prevent them from being misused or abused.
For a list of the drug take-back box locations go to psp-dot-pa-dot-gov.
Nearly 1,100 pounds of prescription drugs were disposed of in the boxes during the third quarter of the year. In Jefferson County go to the Pennsylvania State Police in Punxsutawney. In Clearfield County the take-back box is in Clearfield, and in Indiana County go to the Pennsylvania State Police station in Indiana to drop off your unwanted prescription drugs.
