This crash occurred as 56 year old Randy Chicola of Dubois was traveling south on route 219 the Chestnut Grove Highway near Korb Road when the back tire failed causing the bike to lose control and crash onto its side and slide off the roadway before hitting an embankment. Chicola and his passenger 55 year old Diana Chicola also of Dubois were tossed from the bike and were laying in the middle of the southbound lane.
Neither were wearing a helmet and they sustained significant injuries to their head and neck and according to the PSP in Dubois they were flown by Stat Medivac to UPMC Altoona for treatment.
