A Shelocta man is awaiting a preliminary hearing for a shooting incident that happened shortly before 10:30 PM on July 28th in Young Township…
State police say 28-year-old Jordan Lee Shupe followed the vehicle of 29-year-old Paul Swarden and fired a shot from a handgun at the intersection of Birds Road and Blue Jay Lane. 35-year-old Brienna Lapay and a 3-year-old boy were in Swarden’s vehicle with him. When PSP were at Shupe’s house, he drove by at a high rate of speed upon seeing the police cruisers. He was pulled over and a pistol was seized, with police saying a bullet was missing from the chamber and it smelled as if it had been recently fired. Shupe and his wife both said he had fired the gun and he was then arrested.
Police say Shupe was under the influence of alcohol and was taken to IRMC for a blood draw before being taken to the Indiana County Jail. He was arraigned the next day on charges. Bond is set at $5K, preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 24th.
