A law that Governor Tom Wolf signed into law earlier this year goes into effect today to help those who try to rescue a child locked in a car…
The bill, signed into law by Governor Wolf on May 16th, will protect Good Samaritans from liability for damages if they believe that a child is in imminent danger, provided that every effort was made to try to get in contact with the vehicle owner and emergency responders, and that no more force than necessary be used in trying to help the child.
Parents are reminded to check the backseat before they leave the vehicle. The National Safety Council said 51 children died last year of pediatric vehicular heatstroke.
