Punxsutawney Borough Council President Larry Chenoga says too many drivers are not following the proper detour route.
This is causing congestion problems on Indiana Street, which is only open to local traffic in the in downtown Punxsutawney. There is more police presence in the area as well, as they will conducting seat belt and DUI checks on Indiana Street.
Chenoga also reminds everyone this is a PennDOT project and they are trying to help traffic flow smoothly. The proper detour for commercial trucks and vehicles is to take Route 436 to Route 36 and that will connect with State Route 119.
We thank the Punxsutawney Borough Council President Larry Chenoga for coming in to our studio and spending time. Here are audio segments from that interview.
