A bill being introduced in the state House seeks to address an annoying and potentially dangerous driving habit.
The bill would punish motorists who remain in the left lane when traveling on a limited access highway. State law prohibits remaining in the left lane except to pass another vehicle or when making a left turn or an exit. Offenders would be fined $25 plus costs, but points would not be assessed on a driver’s record. The bill’s sponsor says it would improve safety and traffic flow, as well as cut down on incidents of road rage.
The bill will be taken up by the House Transportation Committee.
