The State police have been conducting patrols and visits to churches and houses of worship for the security of the members.
According to a parishioner of the Orthodox Christian faith, as they celebrated Easter this past weekend, they observed State Police patrolling the area of northern Indiana County, including the parking lot of their house of worship. In total, troopers from the Indiana station checked on 59 churches throughout the county.
The arson fire that struck the Harmony Grove Lutheran Church in Washington Township on February 26th has brought about an increased public concern for the safety of area churches. That arson is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the State Police in Indiana at 814 357-1960.
