Clearfield County commissioners declared a local disaster emergency Tuesday after heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in the southern part of the county, damaging homes, businesses and the Glendale Area Medical Center in Coalport.
WTAJ News reports Floodwaters overwhelmed drainage systems, forced the evacuation of two patients from the medical center and prompted a boat rescue for a resident trapped in her home. County emergency officials are working with state and federal agencies and the American Red Cross as cleanup efforts begin.
Officials urged residents to remain cautious as crews continue assessing flood damage.
