A Jefferson County Jail inmate is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly choking his cellmate unconscious and biting a corrections sergeant during an altercation inside the jail, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
According to ExploreJeffersonPa.Com, Authorities say 51-year-old David Allen Vanatta Jr. attacked the inmate during a dispute May 11 at the jail in Pine Creek Township, then bit a sergeant’s hand while officers attempted to restrain him. Vanatta was charged with aggravated harassment by a prisoner, strangulation, simple assault and harassment.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 20.
