Officials in Clearfield Borough are reconsidering how the community’s 5-percent amusement tax is collected on ticketed events amid concerns over inconsistent payments and confusion about what admissions should be taxed.
According to WJAC news, Borough leaders said discussions include possible changes such as a flat annual fee for larger events or a two-tier system separating annual and one-time events.
Organizers say the current policy has created uncertainty over whether charges for gate admission, carnival rides and grandstand shows are all subject to the tax.
