Douglas M. Depp, 77, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, May 08, 2026, at Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Doug was born February 9, 1949, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late James M. Depp and Betty Lou (Scava) Depp.
On May 15, 1976, he married Wendy L. (Hurd) Depp who survives. They would have soon celebrated fifty years of marriage.
He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church.
Doug played sports while at Punxsutawney Area High School. Following graduation he attended Marshall University of Huntington, West Virginia where he also played football. He also attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
After college, he entered the insurance field and established Depp Realty Company. In 2000 he co-owned Allegheny Environmental Solutions.
His hobbies included watching his children and grandchildren playing sports, socializing at the coffee shop and at music in the park.
In addition to Wendy, Doug is survived by his son, Scott Depp and fiancé Tricia of Indiana; his daughter, Becca (Zeb) Zinzella of Canonsburg; grandchildren, Adele and Francesca Zinzella, Ethan, Braden and Dylan Depp; two brothers, N. Richard Depp and Phillip D. Depp and fiancé Peggy Young, all of Punxsutawney.
Arrangements are private and entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Doug’s ashes will be interred at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.
The family extends special thanks to all the staff at Mulberry who provided extra support and care for Doug.
