Clearfield County officials have agreed to join a nationwide opioid settlement involving six drug distributors accused of fueling the opioid crisis, county commissioners announced Thursday.
The proposed settlement, totaling more than $97 million to be divided among participating communities, would fund addiction treatment, prevention efforts and related programs if approved by a court. Commissioner John Sobel said the county opted to participate to ensure resources are directed toward addressing addiction rather than prolonged litigation.
Officials added that plans to establish a drug court remain on track, with implementation expected by summer.
