In District 9 action yesterday, Elk County Catholic defeated Brockway 13-3 in five innings, while Oswayo Valley blanked Cameron County 16-0 in five innings. Kane swept Johnsonburg 7-3 and 12-2 (five innings), Smethport topped Northern Potter 16-5 in five innings, and Port Allegany beat Otto-Eldred 18-7 in five innings. Punxsutawney also earned a 16-4 win over St. Marys in six innings.
In softball, Brockway edged Elk County Catholic 4-2, Cowanesque Valley shut out Cameron County 23-0 in three innings, and Northern Potter defeated Smethport 15-0 in three innings. Port Allegany downed Otto-Eldred 7-3, Punxsutawney nipped St. Marys 6-5, Curwensville beat Moshannon Valley 15-0 in five innings, and Cranberry topped Moniteau 9-1.
