District 9 saw a full slate of action on April 8, highlighted by strong performances in both baseball and softball.
In baseball, Punxsutawney topped Bradford 7-1, Karns City exploded for a 22-8 win over Brockway, and Allegany-Limestone (N.Y.) beat Cameron County 7-2. Bellwood-Antis edged Clearfield 6-4, while Coudersport rolled past Otto-Eldred 19-4 in six innings. DuBois dominated St. Marys 17-0 in four innings, DuBois Central Catholic shut out Johnsonburg 13-0 in five, Elk County Catholic defeated Kane 11-3, Smethport handled Oswayo Valley 13-1 in five, and Clarion-Limestone blanked North Clarion 11-0 in five innings.
On the softball side, Clearfield slipped past Bellwood-Antis 2-0, St. Marys outlasted DuBois 9-8, DuBois Central Catholic cruised past Johnsonburg 15-0 in four innings, Elk County Catholic shut out Kane 15-0 in four, Bucktail blanked Smethport 15-0 in four, Central Clarion beat Forest Area 7-3 before Forest Area answered with a 23-0 win in three innings, while Port Allegany at Galeton and Coudersport at Otto-Eldred were postponed.
