Opening arguments began yesterday in federal court in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in the trial of Clint Addleman, who prosecutors say masterminded a 2019 apartment bombing in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania that killed 34-year-old Shanna Carlson.
Federal prosecutors allege Addleman orchestrated the bombing over a drug-debt dispute and enlisted accomplice Kris Nevling to help build the explosive device. Addleman faces multiple charges, including destruction of property resulting in death and illegal possession of a destructive device. Defense attorneys told jurors there is no DNA, fingerprints or eyewitness testimony tying Addleman to the bomb.
The trial is expected to last up to three weeks and include testimony from more than 40 witnesses.
