A Pittsburgh-area attorney has filed a federal lawsuit against the group 814 Pred Hunters, local police and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, claiming he was illegally entrapped and arrested during a 2023 sting operation in Punxsutawney.
WJAC News reports, 35 year-old, Paul Luvara, alleges authorities violated his civil and constitutional rights by relying solely on communications conducted by the group, which posed as a 15-year-old girl, without conducting an independent investigation.
Luvara later pleaded guilty to charges related to soliciting sex from a minor and is currently serving a state prison sentence of 30 months to seven years. In the lawsuit, he seeks to overturn his guilty plea, dismiss the charges, secure his release from prison and recover damages.
