Two adoptive parents accused of starving and abusing a teenage boy appeared in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing, where the teen testified that he was kept isolated in his room for months without adequate food or a bed.
WJAC News reports, Prosecutors allege Amy Billotte, 51, and Sarah Faber, 37, forced the boy to exercise for hours as punishment and threatened him with a knife if he did not comply. Investigators said the teen, a cyber student from the Brookville area, was more than 20 pounds underweight when police learned of the alleged abuse and was later treated at UPMC Children’s Hospital.
Court records show a next court date has not yet been scheduled.
