Police in Saint Marys said a local couple has been jailed after a months-long investigation into the alleged abuse of two children in their care.
Authorities charged Justin Crawford and Monica McKinney with multiple felonies including aggravated assault, strangulation and child endangerment, accusing them of repeatedly striking, choking and otherwise harming a 10-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. Police said the children suffered visible injuries and were allegedly denied medical care and food and told to lie about their wounds.
Both suspects are being held at the Elk County Jail on $100,000 bail each.
