Pennsylvania’s state-based health insurance marketplace, Pennie, reported that nearly 85,000 residents dropped coverage after enhanced federal premium tax credits expired, driving average premiums up about 102%.
Officials said roughly one in five enrollees could not maintain coverage for 2026, with the highest termination rates among older and rural residents.
While nearly 80,000 people enrolled for the first time, overall enrollment ended 2% lower than last year, and many cited having to choose between health insurance and basic expenses such as rent and food.
