Federal prosecutors have asked a judge to hold a hearing to determine whether defense attorney William A. Shaw Jr. should be disqualified from representing former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio, citing an alleged conflict of interest.
WJAC News reports, a motion filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, prosecutors said Shaw also represents former DuBois Police Chief Blaine Clark in a separate civil case and may be required to cross-examine him as a government witness in Suplizio’s upcoming criminal trial.
Suplizio and former United Way executive Roberta Shaffer are charged with conspiracy, federal program theft and money laundering tied to the alleged misuse of public and nonprofit funds from 2008 to 2022.
