Reynoldsville Borough police said a local couple is facing animal cruelty charges after dozens of emaciated cats were rescued from their home.
Authorities said 34 cats and two dogs were found during a search of the residence on South 3rd Street, with many animals severely flea-infested and four cats later dying. Police said Colleen Small told investigators she could not afford veterinary care and surrendered the animals to a nearby shelter.
Online court records show Colleen and Clifford Small are charged with misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, with preliminary hearings scheduled for early March.
