A 68-year-old Brockway woman reported a theft by deception to state police in DuBois on Jan. 7 after she was allegedly scammed out of $11,000, authorities said.
The woman told troopers she received a message accusing her of drug trafficking and other criminal charges and was instructed to pay a fine to avoid further action. Police said the victim later mailed an $11,000 money order to a specified address.
The incident occurred in Warsaw Township, and the investigation remains ongoing.
