A driver struck a utility pole after swerving to avoid a cat that jumped into the roadway Friday afternoon in Farmington Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers said the crash occurred at about 12:57 p.m. on State Route 36 east of Tylersburg Road when Matthew E. Baker, 41, of Littlestown, lost control of his northbound 2021 Nissan Altima while attempting to miss the animal. The vehicle left the roadway and hit a utility pole, breaking it and causing live wires to fall across the road.
Police said the car sustained disabling damage. Baker declined medical treatment and reported no injuries; police noted he was not wearing a seat belt and was cited for a traffic violation.
