The Clarion County Commissioners have tentatively approved a $22.4 million budget for 2026 that includes job cuts, employee raises and a tax increase, despite a dissenting vote from Commissioner Ted Tharan, according to ExploreClarion.com.
Commissioners Wayne Brosius and Braxton White supported the plan, which sets real estate millage at 2.68 mills following a countywide reassessment. The spending plan eliminates 16 mostly vacant positions and reflects rising healthcare costs, an added payroll cycle, and federal courthouse grant funding.
Tharan opposed the budget, citing concerns over wage increases and spending.
